Soccer Against Leukemia & Lymphoma
Dear Soccer Friends,
One of our primary goals for SALLY Games is to fundraise as much as possible to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The greatest portion of these funds is realized through team fees. The net proceeds from SALLY Games has supported the work of the Greater Sacramento Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
This year, similar to years prior, we have received many inquiries about the tournament. However, we have not received enough interest for us to coordinate a tournament.
Therefore, we have decided to take this year off, regroup and return next year.
We continue to be grateful for the generosity of teams, individuals and the community in supporting SALLY Games. We encourage you to continue supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society this year by making a direction donation – every dollar matters.
Here is their website: https://www.lls.org/greater-sacramento-area
We look forward to reconnecting with you next year – look for updates on the SALLY Games website – we are planning for the second Saturday in October 2019. So mark your calendar now for October 12, 2019.
Thank you in advance for your continued support and see you next year!
About SALLY Games
The SALLY Games is a recreational one-day women’s soccer tournament, for ages 18 and over. We have open, over 30, over 40, over 50 and over 60 divisions, depending on the number of teams that apply. The O60 division will play with 8 players on the field.
The mission of the SALLY Games is to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and to educate the women’s soccer community about leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other cancers. We hope to achieve this mission by hosting a great soccer tournament and donating the registration fees, snack bar profits and raffle proceeds to The Leukemia Society to advance research and provide patient services. We hope that the tournament provides all participants and spectators with a day of awareness, camaraderie, and competitive soccer.
The SALLY Games was founded in 2001 by a small group of Team in Training (Team) marathoners as an innovative method to reach individual fundraising goals set by Team. But it takes a village to run a tournament. Throughout the years, most members of the committee did not participate in Team but volunteered their time and energy to this effort. However, in 2012, we had many committee members participating on the cycle and marathon teams. Go Team!
